“And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.” (Act 3:20-21)
Christ will return to the earth, as he ascended to heaven before the eyes of his disciples. “This same Jesus … SHALL SO COME in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven” (Acts 1:10-11). The hope of the reward to be received at his return became the outstanding desire and expectation of the true Christians of every age. This hope is stated by Paul in Colossians 3:4: “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, THEN shall ye also appear with him in glory.“
The word “Millennium” is not found in Scripture; however, its doctrine is clearly taught in both the Old and New Testaments. It has its foundation in the promises to the forefathers of Israel. It can be found being taught by the prophets, and it is clearly seen in the teachings of Christ and the Apostles. Despite this, it generally is nowhere to be found in the teachings of popular Christendom of the day. The understanding of the Millennium must be important in the plan of salvation if it is found so prominently in the pages of Scripture.
